Minnesota Thunder News Release
Saint Paul, Minn. (June 27, 2009) -- The Minnesota Thunder announced today that it will face off against Guatemala’s storied soccer team, Club Social y Deportivo Comunicaciones, in an international matchup at the National Sports Center in Blaine on Wednesday, July 22 in the annual Schwan’s USA Cup Challenge. Kick-off is set for 7:35pm.

Tickets for this match are available immediately by visiting Discounted group tickets can be purchased by calling 651.294.4664.

“Playing against Comunicaciones is a great opportunity for our players and organization to perform against a world class club,” said Thunder head coach Donny Gramenz. “It's also an excellent opportunity for the youth players and soccer fans of Minnesota to be exposed to a very high level game right in their own backyard. It's going to be a fantastic night of soccer!”

“We are very excited to be matching up against Comunicaciones,” said Thunder president Manny Lagos. “This is definitely one of the best teams in Central America and one of the best teams historically in CONCACAF. We are expecting a great game in front of a large USA Cup crowd.”

C.S.D. Comunicaciones, nicknamed Los Cremas, for the team’s cream-colored home jerseys, plays in Guatemala’s top division Liga Nacional and most recently claimed the 2008 Apertura season (August through December) crown and the Clausura (January through May) title, earning a berth into the Group Stage of the CONCACAF Champions League. One of the most storied clubs in Guatemala, Comunicaciones has won 23 league titles throughout its history.

The world class team has a roster with international stars from four different Latin American countries including Guatemala, Brazil, Costa Rica, and Uruguay. The most notable player on the team is Rolando Fonseca. Fonseca is a Costa Rican striker who is considered one of the country’s most talented players of all-time. He has played in more than 100 international games for his country, and is currently the countries all-time leading scorer.

Comunicaciones is the only Guatemalan team to have played against renowned teams such as Real Madrid, Santos FC, and Boca Juniors and is Guatemala’s Premier Division Champions. The team, which was founded in 1949, is based in Guatemala City. The team is coming to the US in July and will play in three matches as they prepare for the 2009 season. Comunicaciones will also travel to play FC Dallas (July 15) and the Richmond Kickers (July 25).

Last year’s USA Cup Challenge against Burnley FC of England drew in a crowd of 7,154 fans. The Thunder hopes to see another successful turnout at this year’s competitive matchup against C.S.D. Comunicacones.

Ticket prices for the game are as follows:

$55 Field Seats (limited supply)
$25 Platinum
$18 Silver
$13 Adult Bronze (ages 18+)
$10 Youth Bronze (ages 3-18)

I'm planning to buy my huasnbd an LA Kings ticket this coming Christmas. Unfortunately, since I'm not that big of a fan, I don't know which seat to buy. My budget is around 40-60 dollars. Would it be better in the middle, behind the net, or really high on top? Thanks in advance!

( 2012.02.14 05:04 ) : My spouse and i got quite happy Ervin could cpemlote his investigations through the ideas he was given when using the web pages. It's not at all simplistic to simply continually be making a gift of guidelines that many other people may have been making money from. We consider we've got the writer to give thanks to for that. The type of illustrations you have made, the straightforward web site navigation, the relationships you give support to engender it's mostly sensational, and it's really helping our son in addition to the family do think the subject matter is entertaining, which is certainly truly indispensable. Many thanks for everything!Krosterantori
